Duration: 1 Day (shorter sessions can be tailored on request)
Aim of the Session To increase knowledge of the risk and effects associated with young people and substance misuse and to raise awareness of services available.
Target Audience. Organisations in direct contact with young people who are identified as being at risk of using drugs, Youth Workers, Schools, Residential Care Staff, YOT workers, Healthcare Foster Carers. The session can also be tailored for voluntary and community groups who want to increase confidence when engaging with young people in a variety of settings, such as Junior sports clubs, Youth clubs, Neighbourhood groups, Parents groups
| Learning Outcomes: By completing this one day session participants will be given the opportunity to:
· Clarify different types of drugs and their effects and legal status |
| · Consider the motivations behind young people’s use
· Understand the risks and effects from substance misuse · Identify appropriate responses when young people use substances · Increase knowledge of services available for young people who misuse substances
